Dan Mangan played two shows in Toronto for CMW and attended others.  Then he was going to fly down to Austin to play some ungodly number of SXSW shows there.  And he’s been pretty busy lately in general, you know?  But because he is a peach, he took a bit of time out to play a couple of songs by the waterfront for minilogues.  Have a listen, won’t you?

Dan squashed into the passenger seat (on the driver’s side, actually) with the video camera, I squashed into the driver’s seat with my DSLR, and Make Your Exit and their instruments squashed into the back of their Mitsubishi van.  This is the video that resulted.  We’re pretty happy with it.

Audio Blood + minilogues = lots of videos
We spent last Sunday with Sari and a host of musicians she works with at Audio Blood, her promotions film. Four episodes of minilogues resulted: two bedroom sessions, one basement session and a rather squashed shoot in a Mitsubishi van. You’ll get to see the first result on Wednesday when we upload a video featuring the Balconies, who just set off on an east-coast tour. The rest of February will...

It was something of a comedy of errors, but we finally shot Leif Vollebekk for minilogues, before his CD release show in Toronto at the Cameron House.  We found a little stairwell to the side of the back area of the venue.  It’s short but, dare I say, sweet.

First minilogues of 2010!  We’re kicking the year off with a living-room session with the Archives, a band with a relatively short history, but an impressive one nonetheless.  They created a cool vibe in their apartment for the shoot, and you should come by the Rancho Relaxo in Toronto on Friday, January 15 to check them out live and in full-force.

Happy New Year!
We took a little holiday break here at minilogues headquarters — which is the internet, really — but we’re ready to be back in action!  We’re currently setting up shoots for new episodes of minilogues — get in touch if you’re interested.  And we’ll keep everyone posted on what they can look forward to in 2010.  In the meantime, you can go through our...

We did something a bit different with minilogues this time, filming a hip-hop act: Owel Five and Corboe.  They performed this very tight track, “Safe On The Front Lawn”, for us in their west-end apartment, complete with classic Sega in the background.  You can catch Owel Five live at the Smiling Buddha in Toronto tomorrow, December 18.

It was pouring rain when Terri and I made the trek up Dufferin St. to shoot with Old World Vulture, but as it turns out their brand of moody instrumental rock fit perfectly with the rainy weather. They even set up a projector which provided a very cool visual backdrop for their song “Too Much Eye Makeup”. You can get a chance to catch OWV live on Friday, December 11 at The Horseshoe...

We did a minilogues with the Schomberg Fair a couple of months ago, shortly before the release of their awesome album Gospel and their cross-Canada tour.  Well now they’re back from tour, and you can catch them in Toronto at Sonic Boom and the Garrison this Saturday, November 28.  In the meantime, you can read about their adventures at NxEW!

After minor technical difficulties halted the Sprengjuhollin minilogues which was scheduled to be shot at Casa Loma, we all settled in at a small patio/balcony for a very nice and intimate performance. Special thanks to everyone involved in today’s minilogues, and keep your eyes peeled for a special canine guest appearance during the title sequence!

We’re on a roll! This episode of minilogues finds Krupke playing in a west-end backyard with a few special guest stars… in HD of course! Despite a forecast calling for rain, we got a beautiful and sunny day. Perfect minilogue weather. Krupke are a very, very cool band so don’t forget to check them out on myspace: http://myspace.com/krupkeband
